Smoothie Freezer Kits

I am not a fan of vegetables.  I need to eat them, but I don’t like them.

I have been seeing so many pictures of these freezer kits. Since I have started to be more organized and have my food prepared for the day or week, this intrigued me. It has to be simple and it has to taste good are my only requirements to try something new 🙂

My 13 year old son and I decided to take an afternoon and attempt these smoothie freezer kits.  Here is what we did:

We grabbed some freezer bags, quart sized.  We added 1 cup of spinach, 1/4 cup of carrots, 1/2 cup strawberries, 1/4 cup celery (finely chopped) and a half cup of granny smith apples, diced. You can add more or less. I filled the bag almost to the top with enough room to squeeze out the air before sealing.

The first attempt in the blender (just a regular blender) did not turn out well, it was very chunky because I did not add enough water. My son wanted a little more flavor so we added a little orange juice.

The next batch I added one frozen bag with 2 cups of water. Wow, that made a HUGE difference. It was more of a liquid drink and not so chunky. We made 10 smoothie freezer kits and we each had one a day for 5 days.

I added a banana one day, and blueberries another day.  You can add any veggie you like.  I will be making new kits this weekend and will add some cucumbers 🙂

I make one every morning and I eat a greek yogurt to add some protein. I needed to get a larger cup, it makes quite a large serving!

Let me know how yours turn out!

Blessings
