Breathe, Relax, Enjoy. Words that inspire happiness, yet I have not been able to achieve most days. Breathing should be simple right? I found out just how much I DON’T focus on my breathing during my first experience at Stretchology in Pittsburgh. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I am so glad I went.
Stretchology is a mix of yoga, mediation and focused breathing. Most people with autoimmune issues have a very difficult time with exercise. My personal experience is exercise exhausts my body. Having Fibromyalgia and Adrenal Fatigue has been a struggle to get any type of exercise in daily. It would take me a week to bounce back from any aerobic or strength type activities. I will be forever thankful to my friend Janalyn for sharing this opportunity with me.
Jeff was my stretchologist for my first session. He explained everything in detail of what I should expect. Knowing that this would not cause pain and would actually relax me was something I was very much looking forward to. As he moved each limb, legs and arms, he gave great directions and positive affirmations throughout the session.
The one thing this exercise did was give me hope. Being a wellness coach and having a few health issues that are overwhelming, it has been difficult to find something to help my muscles. Stretchology has provided a new chance for me to exercise. I accept my body and will continue to eat healthy and provide my body what it needs.
One tip I would like to stress is to keep your eyes closed and focus on the instructions and your breathing. I kept my eyes open when Jeff performed the stretches on my left side. When he suggested that I close my eyes to focus on my breathing, wow, what a difference that made when he did my right side. My breathing was deep and calm to help keep me relaxed and peaceful.
Breath, Relax, Enjoy are now my focus and my motivation game as been kicked up a notch!
